Grateful for the support of the communities they serve, the Rifes' feel strongly about giving back. Not only by helping to create beautiful homes at affordable prices, but through their support of numerous local charitable causes focused on the most basic necessities of life: food and shelter.
Among these, Hannah's House is a 12-month residential program for adult women struggling to conquer addiction; Oregon Supported Living provides quality residential and vocational services to men and women in Lane County who have developmental disabilities; Shelter Care offers a variety of housing support services for the homeless or those facing homelessness; Furniture Care redistributes new and used furniture to individuals in need; and Food for Lane County works to eliminate hunger. Most recently, the company donated 50 twin mattresses via Furniture Share to children who previously had none.
While each of these local causes is near to their hearts, none is more important to Rife’s than Oregon Helping Oregon, an ongoing campaign focused on locally produced furniture products.
Additionally, Rife's Home Furniture has been a proud supporter and sponsor of KMTR's Acts of Kindness program in which they seek out people doing good things within the community, tell their story, and pay it forward with a little Act of Kindness in return.
"Since we first opened, we have made a point of offering quality American-made furniture, with a special emphasis on local production," Rife says. "We encourage our customers to buy local, and we do the same in purchasing goods from factories based here in Oregon whenever possible because it makes sense for the strength of our community in terms of job creation and the health of our local economy. It's also good for the environment, because the trucks delivering the product to our stores don't have far to go. Whether you are an individual or a business, buying local simply benefits everybody."
